First possibility, you have, for each village of french provinces of Belgium the lists of all owners in the township to this aera :
one finds their complete identity (first and complete second name), if they are married or no, their profession, the list of their
properties and their nature.
In front of them(s) property(s), one finds a code which allows to situate these properties
(see :
Obaix) These documents were established by Mr. Popp, between 1842 and 1879.
The second part, that is the plan of the township. Their scale is 1/5000, but a few parts are 1/2500. These old documents allow to see
all the houses, castels, mills, rivers and many others particulars.
How to find one people or how to do to find where they lived.
At first, if you want find explanations about somebody, you begin to select the name in the
alphabetical list, by example, Mr. Lelotte Antoine-Joseph.
You can see the number is 135.
With this number, you go in the cadastral atlas to the
page with 135.
Now, if you want to see where an ancestor lived, you know now the letter of section (here : B ), you know all the numbers of
parcels (66,67,68,69,397,508,509). You have here an example with an
extract of
a map : you can see the parcels 66,67,68 and 69.
